On December 31, 1943, a Gift of Life was born to the late Mrs. Alma Durisseau Carrier and Willaus Carrier in Mallet, LA. His parents gave him the name of Thomas Joseph Carrier but was fondly called "TJ". TJ was the fifth child of twelve children.
TJ accepted Christ at an early age and was christened at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where he was a member until his death.
TJ attended W.O. Boston High School and graduated in the class of 1961. He was a faithful maintenance worker for Calcasieu Parish School Board for over 25 years. On April 13, 1968, TJ was united in Holy Matrimony to Lena Carrier. To this union two children were born, Evelyn Faye and Thomas Joseph Carrier, Jr. TJ was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who took great care of his family. He enjoyed drinking a cold beverage and watching football. He was a huge New Orleans Saints fan.
Leaving to cherish his memories and continue on his legacy are his daughter, Evelyn Faye Carrier; granddaughters, Linette, Jasmine, and Aneka Carrier; honorary son, Michael Beasley; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella Stewart, Gertie Carrier, Patricia (Michael) Parker, Conzy (Johnny) Carter, and Kempa Carrier; brothers, Frank Carrier and Terry (Margaret) Carrier; godchild, Tammy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
TJ is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Lena Carrier; son, Thomas J. Carrier, Jr.; great-grandchild, Jayelynn; sister, Dorothy Disnuke; brothers, Johnny Carrier, Gerald Carrier, and Willie Carrier.
