Obituary

We loved her dearly but God saw that she was suffering and called her home. Mrs. Verna Lee Sinegal gained her heavenly wings on March 4, 2016. She was born to the late Ben and Stella LaGrange Hall on November 1, 1928, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She never met a stranger and was very generous to every one that she met. She was an excellent cook and a wonderful caregiver. She would feed any and everybody whether she knew them or not. She was known as Momma, Mother, Maw Maw, Ma, Ms. Verna, Ms. Verna Lee, or Ms. Sinegal.

She was a wonderful, thoughtful and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, family member and friend. She was an only child. Although she birthed eight children, she mothered many. She touched the lives of so many people. She leaves eight daughters who will always cherish her memories. They are Gladys Malone, Shelia (Elijah) Pete, Frances (Willie) Mouton, Linda Glaude, Katherine (Alvin) Hayes, Sheryl (Harold) Nixon, Gloria (Morris) Valier and Elizabeth (Gregory) Oliver.

She loved her family dearly and tried to make sure they had everything they needed and almost everything they wanted. She cooked breakfast daily and prepared hot meals for lunch and supper. She enjoyed the holidays and always prepared a feast and wanted everyone to attend. She loved to party, dance and listening to zydeco music. She enjoyed seeing smiles on the faces of all and she always wanted to have a great time and could tell some funny stories. She did not want her children to fight. She lived her life to its fullest. She will truly be missed especially by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.

Her grandchildren had her heart and in her eyes they could do no wrong. She leaves eighteen grandchildren who will forever cherish her memories, her stories and her cooking. Each one of them thought they were her favorite. She would always say that she loved them all the same but they were always convincing themselves that they were the favorite. Beginning with the oldest Roy Malone, Jr., Latoya Williams, Allegra Ventress, Casey Robinson, Tammie Ellis, Aneesah King, India Nixon, , Chanti Lavine, Ocieanna Jones, Daren Mouton, Robert Glaude III, Audreanna Glaude, Jacob Nixon, Zachary Nixon, Marcus Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, Frances Leger, and Thomas Bell, Jr.

Her great grandchildren are Jasmine Favors, Damon, Mallory, Camille, and Brooke Williams; Dayton, Dallas and Daniel Lavine, Jr. , Malayah Lee, Ambria Guillory, Ilona Crittenden, Casey Robinson, Jr., Tevin McHenry, Caleb Ellis, Avery and Ava Glaude; Noah and Nya Ventress; and Terrance King, Jr.

She loved her entire family and all of her friends. She leaves lots of family members, friends and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves her very special cousins and all of her special friends, including her wonderful caregivers Margaret (Dean) Perryman and Catherine Trim.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Stella Hall, her husband, Albert Sinegal, Sr., her only son, Albert Sinegal Jr., and her daughter Laura Lee Ellis.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her longtime doctor, Dr. Arthur Primeaux and the entire staff at St. Patrick Hospital.
