IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Viola Malone
Griffin
August 23, 1930 – June 15, 2021
At the age of 90, Viola Malone Griffin transitioned home on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She will lovingly be remembered for her devotion to her family and her faith. Viola was born on August 23, 1930 to George Malone and Clementine Joubert Malone. She was born and raised in Plaisance, La. Viola followed her older sister to Lake Charles at the age of 16 and has made the Lake City her home for more than 75 years. She married the late Louis Clark. She later married the late Ernest Griffin of Opelousas, LA.
Mrs. Griffin spent most of her life taking care of her children and grandchildren. She ended her working career working in food services for Calcasieu Parish School Board. She retired from the School Board in the early 90's. Viola was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She loved her church and had a willing, serving spirit. All you had to do was ask and she would do it. Viola also thoroughly enjoyed working with the Cub Scouts (Pack 42), Mission Circle and participating in the Women's' Sunday School Classes.
Viola lived an abundant life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, neighbor and friend. She was a confidant to many. But she had no problem "telling it how it was." Her big smile could lighten up the room even in the darkest days.
She was an extraordinary woman …. A Woman of God.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: two daughters; Deborah Coleman of Houston, Texas and Marva (Felton) Davis of Lake Charles, La., four sons; Charlie Clark of Tallahassee, Florida, Michael (Eunice) Griffin of LaPlace, LA, Darrell (Jan) Griffin of Englewood California, and Christopher (Roselend) Griffin of Lake Charles, La. Fourteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren; two sisters: Lillie James of Lake Charles, La, Willie Simien of Houston, Texas; one brother; Elijah Malone of Plaisance, La; daughter-in-law Marietta Johnson of Douglasville, Georgia and son-in-law Fritz Coleman of Houston, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; George and Clementine Malone, her husband Ernest Griffin, her brothers; George Malone and Joshua Malone; sisters Ethel Pitre, Lessie Garland, Rosie Stevens and Georgia Dunbar.
Viola will be sadly missed by all who loved her dearly.
