Obituary

Vorise Guillory, Jr. was born September 6, 1923.  He is the oldest son of Bertha Bias and Vorise Guillory, Sr.  Vorise grew up in Opelousas, Louisiana and spent most of his life in Jamaica, New York.  He worked as a longshoreman and retired after thirty years.

While in New York he became a Free Mason.  He also met Mellownee Banks in New York and they entered into Holy Matrimony and remained married for several decades.

In 1991 he moved to Houston, Texas, where he attended New Faith Church and remained a devoted member and served faithfully until his illness. He loved fishing, walking, sports, traveling and spending time with his family.

Vorise was preceded in death by his wife Mellownee Guillory; his parents Bertha Bias and Vorise Guillory, Sr.; one brother, Earnest Guillory and two sisters, Anna Gallow and Oladean Vincent.

He leaves to cherish his memory five daughters, Barbara Jean Frank and Rebecca (Jimmy) Robertson both of Ville Platte, LA, Bonnie Ford, and Gloria Shaw both of Lake Charles, LA, and Cassie (Felton) Broussard of Eunice, LA; one son, Charles McShain of New York; thirteen grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren.  He also leaves behind three sisters, Anna Lee Williams of Lake Charles, LA, Letha Carter of Desoto, TX and Mary Lou Bethea of Mossville, LA; one brother, Linton Collins of Elton, LA; two brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
