Willie Mae Honor Gardiner

Willie Mae Honor Gardiner, was born on November 22, 1929, in Melville, La to Louis and Retha (Jackson) Honor. She transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on July 17, 2026, at Harbor Hospice-Lake Charles, surrounded by family.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Wilbert Joseph Gardiner, Sr. to which they shared nine children

Willie Mae, was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her through her kindness, compassion and unwavering words of encouragement. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, creating treasured memories that will live forever in their hearts.

She was an asset to her community as a self-employed licensed beautician, administrative employee at the Fisherville Community YMCA, she also served as a nurse's aide at Martin De Porres Nursing Home and St. Patrick Hospital, she worked and retired after 25years in various positions from St.Patrick Hospital. After retiring she continued to serve her community by working for the City of Lake Charles summer feeding program, also a full time Sub-teacher/tutor with Sacred Heart Early Childhood Program and CPSB until her rapid health decline.

Willie Mae was a devout Catholic, Member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, she was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Immaculate Heart of Mary Ladies Auxiliary Court 141 and 4th Degree member of Father Herbert F. Schuster Chapter 22 Ladies of Grace

She will be remembered by her since of fashion, her infectious laugh, the love she shared, and the faith she lived by. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and devotion will endure in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

.Willie Mae was preceded in death by her two sons, Wilbert Joseph Gardiner, Jr. and Terrell James Gardiner, Sr., Grandsons Warren Lee Gardiner, Donte Lamar Hicks, Great-grandson Shaquille Amard Gardiner, her three brothers Clay, Frank and Edward Honor and her only sister Dorothy Ellen Honor Gabriel.

She leaves behind to cherish her precious memory: her sons; Kenneth Charles Gardiner, of Seattle, WA, Michael Wayne Gardiner of Richardson, TX, daughters; Patricia Ann Gardiner Thomas of Chicago, IL, Gwendolyn Faye Gardiner LaFleur, Cynthia Carol (Daniel) Allen, Deborah Lynn Gardiner (Calvin) LaFleur, all of Lake Charles, LA, Toni Yvette Gardiner of Houston, TX. 23 Grandchildren, 27 Great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends

Visitation will begin at 9:00 A. M. with a Rosary at 10:00 A.M. in Combre Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
