IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Mae
Jackson
July 6, 1947 – August 4, 2019
Willie Mae (Thomas) Jackson of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away August 4, 2019. Willie Mae was born July 6,1947 to the late Sovelia Reed and Clement Thomas Sr. Her childhood years were spent in Mamou, La where she attended elementary and junior high school. Later, she moved with her family to Lake Charles, La where she became a graduate of Washington High School.
Upon graduation, Willie Mae relocated to San Diego, CA in 1969 with her former husband Russell Jackson. There she became a Sr. Supply Specialist for the F16/F18 Aircraft for the Department of the Navy at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, CA. She completed coursework at various technical community colleges, completed specialized training in military supply systems and received several awards in Naval Supply. During her more than 36 year stay in California, Willie Mae raised her two children, was an avid lover in shopping and participated in volunteer activities for several convalescent homes. In spite of the sun and sands of California, Willie Mae remained a true southern belle, encompassing its characteristics and values, especially a lady's demeanor, as her hair always remained coiffed. Upon facing retirement, Willie Mae returned home to Lake Charles, LA. to be near family.
Willie Mae enjoyed volunteering, collecting photos and keepsakes. She was heavily involved in the electoral process as she worked the voting booths of many elections. Willie Mae was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. She basked in moments with her great nieces and nephews with much delight. She had a unique sense of humor and enjoyed the shock value it brought to others. So much, that she too would burst into laughter. She will be greatly missed.
Willie Mae was proceeded in death by her parents Sovelia Reed and Clement Thomas, Sr.; her siblings, Eula Mae Collins, McKinnley Thomas, Mary Lee Duhon and Clement Thomas, Jr., In Laws, Jesse V. Collins; Manuel and Silvia Jackson Sr; Manuel Jackson Jr., David Jackson; and Eva Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Andrea Jackson; son, John Jackson; her four-legged grandchildren Jackson and Diego; her brother, Herbert Thomas, former husband Russell Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
