Willie Mae Citizen Syas, 79 was born May 6, 1932. She received the gift of eternal life on April 11, 2012 with her four children by her bedside in a local hospital.She was native of Church Point, LA; she resided in Lake Charles for 56 years. She retired from Calcasieu Parish Schools. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Alter Ladies Society.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Crawford (Billy) Syas, Jr; her stepson, Douglas R. Syas; her parents, Eluse & Beatrice Citizen; her brothers, Joseph Citizen and Stanley Citizen; and sisters, Ethel Chavis, Theresa Lewis and Lervine Citizen.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Margaret (Lynn) Miller of Lancaster, TX and Darlene Joubert of Lake Charles; two sons, Dolly Joubert of Lake Charles and Donald Ray (Marsha) Joubert of Little Elm, TX; eight step-children, Ceola Peters, Stella (Ricky) Toussaint, Joseph Syas, Rose Levy, Angela (Kenneth) Cline, Anthony Syas, Sandra Evette (Dee) Madison and Derrick Syas; four sisters, Shirley Chachere, Sable (Bill) Bhim of Church Point, LA, Mary Katherine Citizen of Beaumont, TX and Roseberry Garland of CA; two brothers Rolan Citizen and Nalve (Patricia) Citizen of Church Point, LA.; eight grandchildren, eleven step grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at Combre Funeral Home from 8:00 – 10:45 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012. A mass will follow at her beloved St. Henry Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
